Jump-in

Early intervention group

Who: 3-5 year olds

Jump In is an early intervention group for children aged 3-5 years with a developmental delay or disability. Our team of skilled early childhood educators and early intervention therapists support your child’s learning and development through a play based program, in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment.  Jump In provides an opportunity for your child to develop play and social skills, language and communication, gross and fine motor skills, thinking skills and sensory processing.  We work closely with parents and caregivers to develop individual goals for the child, as well as provide information and support to families regarding their child’s development.

Drama therapy

Dramatherapy group programs use drama games, role plays, puppetry, story-telling and film making to help young people learn how to communicate and read social cues, whist increasing self-confidence, self-awareness and building social skills. The program will emphasis the importance of self-regulated learning and encourage the development of a positive sense of self for all participants.

Music therapy group

When: Fortnightly Mondays, from 9.30am 

Where: Southern Life Church, Moruya  

Who: 0-3 year olds and parents/carers

Commencing: 19 October 2020

The Songbirds 8-week program for families with children 0-3 yrs provides an introduction to the use of music to support child development and enhance the parent-child relationship.  Songs, musical games and dances are used to demonstrate how music can be an effective intervention for developing social and communication skills, fine and gross motor skills and self-regulation.
Discussion points will be based around the benefits of using music at home, and provide an opportunity for families to share their experiences.

Our early intervention programs provide opportunities for your child to develop play and social skills, language and communication, gross and fine motor skills, thinking skills and sensory processing.  We work closely with parents and caregivers to develop individual goals for the child, as well as provide information and support to families regarding their child's development prior to starting school in 2018.

Important social skills are introduced to the participants in a variety of ways, including discussion, visual cues, role play and game play. As a small group the children have an opportunity to practice the skill being taught. 

Gourmet

Skill building group

Who:  Young people interested in cooking

This hands on program will encourage participants to develop self help skills whilst preparing food. Each session will have a set menu where the students will be supported to prepare, cook, taste and share within the group setting.

Positive behaviour support

Kerry Patterson

Specialising in strategies for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families, Kerry Patterson offers practical advice to assist people with ASD to enjoy independent, fulfilling and happy lives. Kerry has worked for over 13 years, both in Australia and internationally, educating people about ASD to empower them to provide positive support to those with ASD.

Alice Cole

Alice Cole is a registered psychologist with experience working with children and young people.  Alice has been involved in setting up local Headspace operations and believes in building the capacity of a young person and their support network.

Occupational therapy

Heidi Hanes, Christine Martin & Carly Tunnecliffe

Occupational Therapists work with children to enable them to develop the skills they need for independence in play, self-care, learning, and socialising with others.  At Muddy Puddles, our occupational therapist can provide assessment and intervention for children who encounter challenges with play and social skills, attention and concentration, self-care ability, visual perceptual skills, and sensory processing abilities. We do this through fun, play based activities that focus on the goals of the child and their family.

This program includes music-based mindfulness, games, improvisation and song sharing.  Participants develop self-awareness, confidence and interpersonal skills while forming and maintaining friendships.

This social group for young people, focuses on social skill-building, communication skills, problem solving, critical thinking, and resilience. Our program encourages social interaction and collaborative play by providing a safe space for kids to let their imaginations run wild, explore their passions and discover new ideas.

Using song, movement and instruments, our qualified music therapist helps children develop their social-emotional, communication and physical skills. Music is an inherently engaging and motivating modality that allows children to develop confidence and abilities whilst having fun.

Kick Start (Batemans Bay)

Fitness for mind and body

Where: Eurobodalla Health and Fitness, 38 Cranbrook Rd, Batemans Bay

Kick start provides a great way for young people to work on their physical and mental fitness. Combining fitness training and life-coaching, this unique program teaches strategies to build self-confidence, gross motor skills and resilience that will last a life time.

​

Each participant will leave the program with increased awareness of personal coping skills, social skills, self-awareness and healthy thinking habits.

Youth Advocacy Group (YAG)

Skill building

Who: young people 16-24 years

This group is all about self-advocacy and advisory skills, giving young people with disability the opportunity to learn how to speak up and have their say on what matters to them.

​

By joining this group, you will learn how to advocate for your rights and the rights of others, design and implement community projects, advise the Muddy Puddles team and improve your social skills by attending outings with like-minded people.

This social group for teenagers, focuses on gaining independence, building friendships and improving social skills.  We will meet at Muddy Puddles each month before heading out to a new social activity chosen by the young people.
