Muddy Puddles team member, Andrew Radford, is travelling to Singapore on Tuesday to speak at the Asia Pacific Autism Conference. He will be sharing his movie and personal story about growing up with Autism.
This opportunity follows a string of achievements for Andrew this year, including being appointed as a Board member for the Council for Intellectual Disability (CID), completing a program to learn how to be a mentor, and speaking at the VALID Conference in Melbourne in February.
Andrew is dedicated to making a difference for young people with a disability in the Eurobodalla and only last Friday secured a meeting with Minister Andrew Constance to discuss how we can provide more programs and services for young people in our region. As a result of that meeting, Andrew was invited to Sydney today to meet the new NSW Minister for Family, Community and Disability, Gareth Ward. Andrew presented the Ministers with a request for additional funding to support the development and implementation of group programs provided by Muddy Puddles.
Andrew is a passionate self-advocate and an avid supporter of Muddy Puddles. He recognises the importance of early intervention and attributes much of his success to the support of family and professionals early on in his life. We are so pleased to have Andrew as a co-facilitator of our Youth Advocacy Group. He is a great role-model and teacher for young people with a disability as they learn how to advocate for themselves.
